Not a bad swap.
Only Mr Wenger's caution can kibosh it.

Hmmm...not sure.
I'm not a huge fan of Mexes.
Then again, if we're getting rid of Squillaci and bringing in Mexes, then that is a considerable improvement, but I would prefer if Milan offered us cold hard cash for Bendy.

Between the two of them I suppose we would have a greater need for Mexes than Bendtner. If Song does leave we would need to ensure that our defence has depth, injuries being far too common amongst our players

I'm not sure about Mexes especially at 30, but bringing another defender could be very useful for this season so it could be a good deal. He still gets into the France squad which shows that he is still rated quite highly and lets face it he is better than Dojouro and the squid.

Speaking of Squillaci, has anyone made an offer or shown any interest in him? Perhaps we should get out a prospectus showing his goal against Stoke That and get him to run a pizzaria at The Emirates. Fans surely can't eat pie all the time

No No No No No !!!!!
Absolutely bloody NOT !! I'm not talking about the swap, I'm talking about getting Mexes. He is an awful CB, I am a Roma fan and when he was with us he was a bloody liability. Djourou is considerably better than Mexes as a CB.
Please .... no .. no ... no.

Who would you bring in to beef up our defence Mr Head? Just interested to know. I don't watch other teams let alone leagues.

RVB - I'm not sure to be honest, I would be happy going for a beast of a defender, someone who loves to defend. Doesn't have to be a pretty baller. I think we could even get a Championship defender to be honest, those guys can defend, but the key is a defender who takes charge and loves defending !!

At the moment I think we are more in need of a right back because Sanga is injured and he may face a long layoff given our medical staff.

I agree that we have a need for a defensive structure and makeup that simply does just what a defence is supposed to do - keep the balls away from the goal. The USA Women's team impressed me no end with their urgency in front of goal when they were being plastered by Japan. Unsurprisingly the USA successfully defended their hold on the gold medal. We need a defence that shows the opposition it means to keep the goals out, something which Arsene's kids tend to shy away from. As we used to discuss before our needs are also in the direction of a defensive strategy. Perhaps in Steve Bould, this will come about since Arsene knows nowt about defence.

Yennaris did well in the first half against Cologne, not sure about Jenkinson, he doesn't inspire me with confidence. Yennaris did some good covering and he also stood firm and was strong - good to see.
What worries me about Mertesacker is simply his pace but he looked formidable yesterday. What the defence need is good organisation and to work as a unit, I really hope Bouldy can drill that into them because last season they defended as individuals, nobody seemed to think "if xx loses the ball I will go cover".

Spot On That is something that has been missing for too long at Arsenal which is why they could take a leaf from the US Womens' Team. I really don't see why Arsenal's defenders don't get that. Perhaps it's because Arsene hasn't drilled this into them. With Wenger it has been all attack which while making the game exciting to watch, leaves room for a Plan B and too much room for goals to be scored at the back.

Bendtner + £6m!!! I would snap their hands off! I hope they don't look into it too much - they might realise that Bendtner is garbage!
