Seems like he will finally sign- I don't like to see anyone else strengthening.

I have said for 18 months that Vertonghen would not win us anything. He is a decent player, no more. He is adaptable and would be a good squad player, but he will never be in a PL winning team.

I can't say much really except that he seems to be one of the players others ( in the media ) had been encouraging us to consider.
What worries me is that the EPL starts in a month and here we are without any changes to our midfield or defence. No wonder RvP wants out.

Hmmm, that's vertonghen and sigurdssun .... I have to admit about being a little worried with AVB. I think he is a top top manager who go tscrewed by the player power at Chelsea (with their cosy relationship with the owner).

We need an attacking midfielder and fast. WE look clueless to break teams down at times.

We need an attacking midfielder and fast. WE look clueless to break teams down at times. It's been like it for a few years... When teams really try and stop us, they often succeed... It's a combination of our lack of creativity in the final third and to be honest just some games where the precision game is just a fraction off... To deal with those teams that try and close it out we need an alternative... Get the ball wide and cross it in... To a centre forward who can win the ball... Giroud perhaps? But who will provide the crosses ?

variety is the key - when do we ever bring 1 or even 2 on at half-time to change it? AW will not accept that he can be outfoxed by other manager's setups. A sub is ALWAYS at 60 mins - and like for like - jesus ! predictable, or what?

You know I really am starting to worry.
Vermaelen looks like he's been tapped up by Barca, Song and Theo are on the final years of their deals and so will Koscielny by the end of next season, Robin looks set to be going.
And we've not even looked like strengthening in other areas i.e. heart of midfield and defence.
I also feel we need better back up for the fullback position. Sagna is soon to be 30 and Jenkinson isn't ready yet. We need one more, as well as a playmaker and a defensive midfielder.
Robin leaving also means we need another striker. Two strikers won't suffice, we need one more. Especially as Chamakh and Park look set to be leaving, as well as Vela and Bendtner. And when you take into consideration our dire injury record/medical staff.
The big problem with Arsenal is that they are too complacent when it comes to contracts - they just expect certain players to stay at Arsenal and there are too many comfort zones. What have players like Ramsey or Bendtner done to justify their high wages? Our best players get paid too much and are overburdened. Our squad/fringe players get paid too much for sitting on the bench.
Arteta gets paid £50k p/w purportedly. Bendtner gets paid £52k p/w. Why does a squad player get paid more than our best midfielder last season?
That is just one example. But when you look at things like that, it's no wonder we struggle to offload the deadwood.
Hence why Sporting Lisbon and Borussia Dortmund couldn't agree with Bendtner over his wage.
Gazidis has said he will make changes to the wage structure - but when?
Other teams are strengthening and we need to. If Podolski and Giroud are our only signings next season, then we will be in for a tough ride again next season - and I doubt Lady Luck will be smiling upon us.
Do things really need to get worse before they get better?

Ammaar I really think things do need to get worse before they get better... Our pre season starts in just 5 days time, with our first two matches in the Southampton mini tournament, and yet our squad is once again unstable.
The news today is that we are preparing to replace Walcott with Victor Moses. I see that as a downgrade.
I really think we may have done our business this year other than replacing Walcott if he leaves.
