I really hope we are close to signing him, as this will give us time to potentially buy a few other players and really strengthen our squad. It would be fantastic to keep RVP and sign a few extra players but I wont get excited until the deals are done.

I expect to pick up tomorrow's Metro and see Cazorla sold to us Funny because I expect to read we have not offered enough, then for Chelsea, City or Utd to some in and take him.

Please don't joke about things like that Jayram, it actually gets me worried that it will happen!

I think either this manager or board or perhaps both have a sadistic streak and wish to make the fans suffer. Why can they not ever complete a deal in double quick time?

because every offer is a penny-pinching ordeal.

because every offer is a penny-pinching ordeal. Ahh yes How could I have forgotten? Cheap skates - they'd rather save a few bucks and risk losing a deal. Another

Thats fair enough, I cant blame the guy for wanting to keep one of his star players. Lets hope that we do move quickly before the likes of City start to get interested.

At over 20m EURO's the deal is dead for us. On to the next target because even though we can afford it the club will not do it. They would rather penny pinch and take the risk of top 4.

This is where we can't play hard ball - the board need to realise that in the current climate and thanks to the likes of Liverpool, City and Chelsea inflating the transfer market, we do need to spend wisely. And to lure a player of Cazorla's quality away from a Qatari funded club will not be easy, especially as he still has two years left on his current deal apparently and the fact that if we have put in a bid of £15m for him, it would be turned down. Malaga would be making a loss for what they bought him for.
Cazorla is the type of player we need.
We need to offer £20m + to get him and no dilly-dallying or haggling too much or being parsimonious.
As I understand it, Gazidis is the one who sorts out the transfer fees and other transactions with the other club - he needs to show some balls now. No derisory bids.
We would be missing out on a real gem if we don't try and make a substantial offer.

You know Ammaar, there have always been the rumblings that Arsenal purposely low ball offers because they never intended to do the deal, only provide a smokescreen for their profit making intent. I never really believed they were doing that, but now I am not so sure.

We will see, I'm still confident that this one will go through given the fact that Malaga are in such a dire way finically so they don’t have that much power to negotiate, but we will see. If we don’t get him then that will be another great player lost and that is not acceptable

They proved this with the Gotze deal last year.

Sorry to say this but I fear you have a point.
We lose out on all the high value transfers except in the instances where the player us too young and other clubs don't want to take the risk or we get who we want because others didn't want them anyway.
You'll recall how the egghead Gazidis used to say we couldn't get the players because they weren't available in the first place. Yeah sure......
All spin I'm afraid
