and if we get to semi-finals in all Cups we make more than £40m above getting knocked out early. Now that's just it pal. If we can make the semis on what we have, the rationale by the moneymen is why do we need to spend another £25m or even £40m if we were to go for two players. It's all about money and how they think they are making it work. No consideration is given to the fact that being "thereabouts" means that while we save those millions, we lose players all along the line and have to start from square one each year. Ahh but then again losing players also means getting money for these players, hence our net decreasing spend each year for the past seven years. When your main consideration is money, this is what you get.

The people that spend a huge percentage of their income and time on the club, the people that should be the heart beat and very essence of the club.

Well as you know that has been the case with Arsenal in the era of the money men. I wish we could see quick change to this but it doesn't appear to be an easy and early fix.

Its the stupidity of previous shareholders that put us in this mess, we would require at bare minimum for Usmanov to take a seat in the board to wake up silent Stan and his bunch of goons. I think if Usmanov is on the board then he can legitimately push Stan a bit and force more transfers going through.

I think if Usmanov is on the board then he can legitimately push Stan a bit and force more transfers going through. I couldn't agree more my friend. When you sell out on your own, your own it is who reap what you sow. They seem to be steadfastly resisting Mr U's entry onto the board. He has just a shade under 30% of the issued share capital. NOw it would depend on how he is able to secure sufficient votes to make it to the 30% level. When in that position, he can demand a seat on the board. However with the exception of special resolutions which requite a 75% majority vote, Mr U at 30% will almost certainly be outvoted on all the other occasions. The best case scenario would be for Kroenke's US interests to fail thus putting pressure on him to sell to Usmanov. I still believe a greater shareholding for real supporters of a football club should be on the agenda of the FA.

Stan has shown himself to be money motivated above everything else so I hope that we as fans could get more power at the club however if this is not possible then I would back Usmanov simply because he has stated the fact that he wishes to invest in this club and win trophies. The best case scenario is as you have said my friend but sadly I dont think it will happen anytime soon.

I really don't understand - why would it hurt so much to pay the extra £2m?
Malaga purportedly ask for £20m and we offer £17.9m? Just pay the extra money, for crying out loud!

Small minded people you see Ammaar Thus about all they see worthwhile doing is penny-pinch They'd do this with their mothers too I wouldn't be surprised

Nothing irks me more than this penny pinching attitude. If an extra 2 or 5 million gives you the chance of glory or can triple it's investment, why not do it ??

its typical bean-counting - no ambition, no sense of adventure, no risk taking, unable to see the big picture, lack of vision of a good investment..... will that do as a description?

In business the procurement process is critical - and any money saved goes straight to the bottom line. It would seem that Gazidis and co don't understand the other dynamics involved here... our football club is being run 100% as a business with the main goal of the bottom line, not trophies. It's that simple.

I agree - Arsenal football club is not being run as a sport but a business. It disgusts me. Let the fans get in for £20 a ticket and then field kids - I'd be happy to pay and go and accept that we won't win things. Fine.
But don't take the piss with expensive tickets AND buy kids and no try to win anything.
