Well wages of course would be important but he is a good player - don't forget we lose Song for a period of the season. My main worry though with this is Coquelin. I really think he deserves a big chance this year...

De Jong would certainly toughen up the midfield.

Even as DM I dont think he is good enough to be honest, I mean even Gareth Barry is picked ahead of him and he is rubbish. I would much rather stick with Coquelin who I think is far more mobile, can tackle and can also contribute going forward if need be. I know we need a DM but De Jong in my opinion is far too one dimensional and offers nothing aside from sitting in front of our defence. I would rather a DM who is technical sound and is active as a player rather than reactive i.e. isn’t lost when he actually has the ball and can distribute it well. De Jong is more of a reactive player offering nothing but breaking up the oppositions play.

In my eyes, defensively, he is a better bet than Song. He is disciplined and plays the ball quickly and you are not just going to run straight past him, he is quick.
No doubt we could buy a better DM but I wouldn't be displeased if we got him.
