Song looked awful today and I dont think he made many positive contributions at all, I'm starting to wonder whether we really need a DM at all because players like Wilshire, Diaby and Arteta track back and win the ball quite well. I think we need to focus more on positioning rather than getting a DM. All the DM's weve had in recent times look lost in our midfield because we dont hold our shape, if this was worked on then I could see us not needing a out and out DM.

Hmmm... against Cologne maybe, but in a tough game where we are under a bit of pressure i would want some protection for the back for - some dedicated protection. For e its about balance and mixing up the tactics according to the opponent. At Old Trafford for instance, or the Ethiad I would certainly play with a DM.

Either way I think its clear that Song isn’t the right person for the DM position, he has all the attributes needed except for his concentration which results in him drifting forward when he should stay put. If were going to get a DM then we need them to stay in a fixed position and not experiment with them like Wenger did with Song. I would have liked to have got Sahin but that doesn’t seem likely anymore so I would prefer Capoue over MVilla as he is much more of a physical presence

I wonder what chance of a DM at all but you never know since this summer is not like recent Arsenal summers. Perhaps Arsene has now woken up that he wants to walk away in 2014 as a winner and be remembered as one?
If we do not get a DM or no one else steps up to the position then I fear we will be all too vulnerable at the back.

M'Vila will be the first proper step to winning something.

I agree, M'Vila would be a real signing of quality - added to the Cazorla signing it would be a double helping of good quality. Thats not to say Podolski and Giroud are not good signings but the other 2, in my eyes, are top quality.
M'Vila has it all .. and unlike Song who I have never seen play quick incisive one-touch football, M'Vila can, so he wouldn't slow the game down like Song always does, dwelling on the ball.

By the sounds of it the Sahin deal is back on as he would like to come to the premier league and wants to play champions league football so that rules out Liverpool and Spurs. The question now is whether Wenger is looking to get just MVila or have Sahin on loan as well. It would be fantastic if we could get both but I fear that is asking too much so I would rather try and get Sahin.

Well bare in mind, OXO is now out injured with an ankle injury, if its ligaments then who knows how long that might be.
So we might have to go for both .. what with Wilshere on the Perpetual bed of recovery in the Arsenal physio room.

Rennes have said that the PL team who placed a bid wasn't in the CL, which means it likely to be the spuds.

When are we going to fire the physio's and trainers? This happens every year, no other team has injury issues like we do, so something is obviously wrong.
