Okay - first United wanted him for £40m. Now they're saying it's a £20m fee? And then they said Arsenal wanted him only the other day? And now they are telling us it is Spurs and Chelsea battling it out?
More trivial, contradictory bs from the Daily Fail.
Wouldn't be too concerned about what that garbage says, Jayram.

You are probably right - the Fail is just a rag... does seem that Spurs have some cash to spend though... there were some rumours floating around that they were being bought out... we will have to wait and see. regardless I would really hope we get a top signing in before the preseason games start...

I would like Lewandowski also but I really can't see Dortmund letting him go unless it's for a very generous sum of money and likewise with Spurs.
I have to say though - Spurs bringing in Vertonghen and Sigurdsson does show that they are looking to not repeat their cock ups of last season. And if there's any small consolation from what may already look to be a poor season for us, we should at least have bragging rights over our noisy neighbours for the 17th year in a row.
But let's hope we don't think that way.
I pray for a similar campaign to the 07/08 season but with silverware to show at the end of it.

I just hope that whoever is the right fit for us, we go out and land the player. All is pussy-footing around the bargain basement, doing things on the cheap doesn't get the job done. 3rd place proves it. You may recall the scene in Love Story ( yeah I know my era ... well just ) where Ryan O'Neal says to Ali McGraw he came third in the Law exams and she asked who numbers 1 and 2 were. 3rd place is 3rd place. There was a time when Arsenal went for 1st prize. Not any more it seems. Zero ambition this lot on our board.

Martin Samuel probably has a hand in any article that is basically anti-Wenger.
