Amongst drivers of course. We may get onto teams at some point although I imagine most follow drivers than teams. They need not be in order but mine are and as follows:- 1 Mario Andretti 2 Gilles Villeneuve 3 Alain Prost 4 Mika Hakkinen = Fernando Alonso 6 David Coulthard = Sebastian Vettel 8 Jacques Laffite = Jenson Button = Stefan Johansson = Keke Rosberg = Paul Di Resta = Patrick Tambay = Nico Rosberg = ( The late ) Mark Donohue = Emerson Fittipaldi = Jackie Stewart = Damon Hill = Carlos Reutemman = Rick Mears = ( The late ) Peter Revson = ( The late ) Clay Reggazoni Now some of you may be wondering why I have included Rick Mears who only ever tested a car. It is because he had immense potential which was well-recognised. Testing for Brabham in 1981when Nelson Piquet was the fastest thing in F1, Rick Mears immediately eclipsed Piquet's times and was described by Herbie Blash( then team manager for Brabham and now FIA Deputy Race Director ) who was awed by the experience as being ' the greatest of the lost champions '. You would be quite right to ask why Mears never made the jump into F1 and it was because money-tight and crafty Bernie Eccleston who was Brabham's owner wanted Mears to pay for the ride. rick, who was enjoying life in CART, earning well and indeed successful, didn't see the need to make all those endless transatlantic crossings. Thus we never saw what a potentially great driver in F1 he might have become. Over to you pals

That was the Type 77 with which he won the first ever Japanese grand Prix, held at the Mt Fuji circuit in 1976. I got up early to listen to the radio. No live telecast in those days but we had the best commentators in Andrew Marriot and Barrie Gill. Mario came in a lap ahead of everyone else. Source : 8w.forix.com The more successful cars in black and gold livery were the Types 78 and 79 respectively Here Mario is seen winning at Monza in 1977 having overtaken Jody Sheckter on the outside of the Parabolica. No one had attempted that before!! With the late Ronnie Peterson on the front row at Jarama in 1978. Note the difference in the roll over bars on both cars. Colin Chapman ( in yellow ) is seen on the pitwall with Bob Dance while Glenn Waters checks over Mario's car W

I disliked Andretti because I liked Petersen. I lost interest in the 80s but remember the likes of Scheckter, Hunt, Lauda, Fitipaldi, Reuteman and Villeneuve quite fondly.

But my friend presumably you may perhaps accept that Peterson himself regarded Mario Andretti as a good friend and one if not for whom he would not have a good car with which to show he could stage a ' come back ' to F1 having been out in the cold for the past two to three years. Indeed they were good friends and one of the few competitive pairings that got on well with each other. It was then as it was before their time and indeed now for teams to have a No1 and No2 driver or like Lotus themselves back in 1973, Williams in 1986, perhaps even Ferrari in 1974, they would contrive to lose the championship because of infighting. A team needs it's sponsors and to attract fresh ones to continue in the sport and maintain their position, even improve it. While Mario may initially not have been wild about having a fast driver in the team too, their relationship was not one by which modern day drivers should not emulate. Peterson himself had said too that Mario deserved the title, having been faster than him especially in the first half of the season.
