thats nonsense - he simply feels /felt that his ambition was not being matched by the club. In all honesty a feeling shared by hundreds of thousands of our fans!

thats nonsense - he simply feels /felt that his ambition was not being matched by the club. In all honesty a feeling shared by hundreds of thousands of our fans! Sorry, but i disagree. If it was due to lack of ambition, he would have signed a new contract the moment the cazorla deal was finalised. What a way to show ambition. The fact he's still linked to ManUre means that he's just a mercenary looking for a paycheck, and thinks he's better than us by demanding insane wages. I'm putting him in the money grabbing C*** category with Na$ri now

you are blaming him for the many and varied media guesses going on? What exactly has he said to make him a money grabber? You are assuming the media stories to be true. I cannot see how the signing of Cazorla suddenly changes everything. Yes, we all hope it signals a change, but we've had other false dawns. Proof is in the pudding!!! ;D

That youngster sounds like he will be very good then, as for RVP he said he mentioned a lack of ambition and the clubs he has been linked with by all accounts have either won a trophy last season or were closer than we were to winning one. I dont think money has anything to do with it in RVP's case. Also Kyle I wouldn’t pay too much attention to the ManU story because the bid they made was in July before we had signed Carzola. The media are just bringing it up to try and destabilise the relations between RVP and the club. RVP is said to be happy with the signings made by Arsenal and we haven’t really heard any recent news about RVP (that is true of course) so until we hear otherwise, he is an Arsenal player.

I think that the signings we've made do signal some intention to compete. If RvP disagrees, then he's either not very bright, or he thinks too much of himself.

I think your getting drawn in too much into what the media are trying to portray Kyle, the statement made by Van Persie was before we had signed Carzola, prior to that we only had two real signings that were ready for first team football. Since the Carzola signing we haven’t heard anything about Van Persie complaining or showing discontent and the reports are that he is pleased with the signings we have made so far. However we are still short of about 4-5 players that could make us title contenders in my opinion so unless we sign a few more we cant say that we have shown any real ambition to compete especially considering the fact that we were miles behind the front two last year. And they have strengthened their squad as well.

You never know .. it might even make him see his importance at Arsenal and realise the grass may "seem" greener .. but its yellow .... and simply spray painted green lol.
Didn't the same thing happen with Vieira though, he wanted to go to Juve one season but did the next and kept his captaincy. And wasn't the case the same with Henry and Barca ? He wasn't sure he wanted to go, we had the will he go/will he stay summer at least twice and he stayed as captain.
Admittedly ... neither of them said they would not sign a new contract.

and the 2 initial signings were to try to cover RVP leaving - and he was not impressed and it remains to be seen whether they transition into top class PL players. We also have the small matter of a lack of a DM, and an ongoing problem with Wilshere. Soon after his refusal to sign we also had the Walcott saga - now there IS an example of a player wantng crazy money. Song if you can believe it, would consider a move too. Why EVERY year do we have these unhappy players?

I've actually not felt that RVP has done anything wrong in all of this.
Some people have claimed his statement was disrespectful - how ? He at no point criticised the club. He said that his view of where the club should be going and Gazidis/Wenger's is different ! If anything last season would've been the time for him to have a hissy fit when the team were shite and completely reliant on him, but he didn't turn into a drama queen or big head, he performed week in week out and gave 100% every match.
The suggestion that he wanted to see ambition again are words not uttered by RVP, but lets assume he did say this. We signed Podolski and Giroud. Now, if you are one of the best players in the world, would those 2 signings be a statement of ambition ? Podolski flopped at Bayern and had a crap Euros, Giroud was good for Montpellier who are hardly world beaters and he couldn't get a game at the Euros.
Now these are NOT my opinions of the 2 players, I happen to think the players are exactly what Arsenal need, but I am not sure they are the kind of player RVP wants to see. Does money play a part ? I don't think so at all. what everyone seems to be forgetting is, RVP will get a major rise in salary IRRESPECTIVE of where he goes because he is a top player and you can hardly blame him that the recently successful teams are laden with money they want to throw at him.

talking about ambition:- were we ambitious in sitting out nearly a year to sign Chamakh on a free? were we ambitious in forcing Arteta to drop wages by £20k per week and sign in the very last hour of the window ? were we ambitious in signing a washed up Squishy when we needed a major long-term addition and were in dire straits with 4 defenders out? were we ambitious in signing a slow but tall Merte when we needed a major long-term addition.? were we ambitious in signing a kid from Charlton - Jenks to be a major long-term addition?

But BaDM, some will point you to the fact that Arsenal have spent a lot of money in the last 2 seasons on players !!!
Yes we have but ... only because we sold our best players for top dollar and didn't have players to replace them. So going 2 steps backwards then 2 steps forwards is not something to shout from the rooftops about.

And those same people who defend the last few years will also never admit that what we are now doing is exactly what the people banned from that other place had been calling for for a very long time. Still, admission is unnecessary - they can just be embarrassed in private ;D

ambition WAS to build from the bottom - making the youth project fill our side in x years time. In fact we take other clubs youth by buying it and allow our few stars to walk away. Now we are chasing the game - we have policies that worked if you have a steady stream of PL class youth coming through- but we never have had that work. The new owner and tight-fisted Wenger are only buying what we can get for around a max £15m - and putting us through endless haggling.

This is the first year where a change in strategy is clear. Our net spend this year is going to be about £30m, maybe more. Of course if we lose RvP and Song we'll probably end up making a profit again - at the expense of any chance of a trophy... so it's still in the balance.
It does look like Wenger has seen the error of his ways though - finally.

don't forget Silent Stan views success as his shareholding value ... Ivan the terrible is tasked to improve revenue. both these guys are aware of the high risk if we don't maintain 4th place and a decent run in Cups.
