www.footballgossip.org.uk/index.php/2012/08/13/arsenal-transfer-news-and-rumours-monday-13-august/I think they are having a laugh, £11M is a joke for a player with 2 years left on his contract. The reports however are that we may get one of their youngsters (Cristian Tello) plus the cash. I dont know much about Tello but Wenger apparently rates him very highly and the fee may go up to just over £15m. If its £15m plus this youngster I would be inclined to take the offer as I think we could get a decent DM for £15m and if this youngster is as good as Wenger seems to think then this might be a very good deal.

I'm not a big fan of Tello. His statistics are pretty good for a 21 year old, but we have better options in my view and I highly doubt he'll get loads of game time. He has good acceleration and has a tendency to cut inside from the flanks, but he has strange ball control, his first touch isn't all that and he doesn't really display much 'footballing intelligence'. What I mean by that is when he has the ball 8 times out of 10 he will make the wrong decision in the final third and he never seems to know what to do when the ball is at his feet.
Several times when in a good position to cross the ball or dribble at defenders, he seems to pass it backward and sideways and it's just pointless doing that. (already indoctrinated in the Arsenal way!) so that implies he's not always confident when he's got the ball.
Wenger could help cultivate him into a top player and I suppose it may be worth it if we got a player plus cash (£15m), but for a 21 year old, he will need to better his game quickly seeing as we're having more competition for the position he plays in.

He sounds like a cross between Gervihno and Walcott then which is not ideal really. I was hoping for a technically gifted winger that offered something different.

Barcelona completely screwed us over with the Cesc saga - although I was more annoyed thatour incompetent board had allowed Barcelona to pay the £40m in installments over the next 5 years, it was ridiculous. We should have said pay us the £40m up front or feck off, he's our player and still has 4 years left on his contract.
If we're going to do business with them again, if we're going to sell Song, then make sure we get £15m + for him. Make sure we get our money's worth this time.
I'm still annoyed with how we handled the Cesc and Barcelona incident.

I'm still annoyed with how we handled the Cesc and Barcelona incident. Whats annoying me is the fact that Barca are trying to use the same tactics as they did for Song i.e. tap our player and letting their players talk about him every other day like they did with Cesc. I have already seen Ineista and Pique talking about Song which I find disgusting really. Saying that I don't think we would get over £15m for Song so I would be obliged to sell him and buy another DM who is dedicated to that role...oh how I miss Gilberto right now he would have been perfect for me

I don't who about Tello but 11m for Song just goes to show Barca are cheap skates that lend credence to the expression ' all show and no .... yeah you know what '

it has to be at least £15m - or that plus a good prospect ? At £18m I'd sell for sure - but will we ever get paid by Barca !!!

£15m would be a good price for Song, and I would let him go for that, provided we used it for a replacement - i.e M'Vila

Bizarre move if true. Their striking options currently are Harry Kane and Jermain Defoe, so they decide to pack in more midfielders? They have Huddlestone, Livermore, Sandro, Scott Parker and even Vertonghen can play in defensive midfield, yet now they've made a bid for M'Vila as well?
They're trying to bolster options in a position where it's not necessary and aren't focusing on the real issue which is their lack of strikers available.
If they start the season with Kane and Defoe, I would piss myself with laughter. That would just be too brilliant. They'd better hurry up though, as there's only 2.5 weeks left of the transfer window!

I don't think Spurs will be much of a threat this season, I was briefly reading some of the threads on the spurs board on the other forum and some of the posters seeming to think that they are title contender ;D I dont think their team looks very strong at all especially if they lose Modric which looks to be the case. And with Ade seemingly unlikely to join them I would be surprised if they were competing with us next season.
