We had a FABULOUS chance here to stand up and show the world and our other players that we were a serious challenger. Momentum going our way, good signings. The choice was a simple one - continue the momentum or take the cash. We did the latter again and have been bullied by Utd now on top of City and Barcelona. Our club is now a joke because of Gazidis and co. Remember our majority shareholder needs the cash

I am still struggling to digest this news. Will hurt seeing Robin in a United shirt.

I've changed my view from the position at the beginning. i wanted the club to refuse to sell- make a stand. Now I am so convinced that Wenger is regularly over-ruled that I am sure he will go at the end of 2 years remaining. That suits me. £24m ( plus add-ons, resale split?) - and recovering the £80k per week can be seen as good business. If only we now buy 1 or 2 class players we might be glad of it in a year's time. .... there might be a silver lining.

I think the board may have misjudged the reaction they are going to get - the fans are sick and fucking tired of waving our best players good bye every fucking year.
No doubt Song and Walcott will be the next news - sold so we make a net profit.

The club will now say it was too late to buy anyone - or we have Podolski and Giroud. Facts are our strike force is now weaker than last year

I really do not know why people on here are furious, it was the worst kept secret of the summer, the world and the dog knew he was leaving and it was obvious he was going to Manure.
We should have been suspicious when Wenger and co decided to sign 2 strikers fairly early in the transfer window.... I know they said Pods and Giroud were brought in to play WITH RVP and as replacements, we shall see in the coming weeks if they Re-invest....
Next stop Song, then Walcott, then we have made a tidy profit from transfers this season.
Chin up lads, at least we will make Champions League top 4 again, shame we do not get a cup for CL qualification!

The fury is mostly because he's been sold to Manure.
Everybody new he was going but there would have been little to complain about if he'd gone abroad.
You can bet your boots the money won't be reinvested, that's going into Stan's holding account.

I blame the board mostly as its clear they have overruled Wenger once again and will do the same for Song, but I also blame Wenger to an extent because he didn’t fight hard enough against the board, Fergie would not have let the board push him around like Wenger does. I do not however blame Van Persie despite the fact this news pains me. He wants to win things after all so its only natural that he will go to a team with ambition.
I just checked the other board to see what the response was and typically they are crucifying RVP over there calling him some pretty nasty stuff and calling him a one season wonder…I don’t understand how they can blindly defend the board and go against every player who decides to leave us, absolute tools

RVP, he said he wanted to see 'ambition' so we signed Podolski, Giroud and Cazorla. He said he wanted to 'return the club to their glory years' so he demands a transfer. Could have been an Arsenal legend, now he'll just be remembered as another player who shafted his club for the money. Where have I seen the quoute before ah yes: Piskie RVP said he wanted to see ambition - so we signed Podolski, Giroud and Cazorla to support him. RVP said he wanted to 'return the club to their glory day' - and he demanded a transfer.
He could have been an Arsenal legend.
Now he'll just be remembered as a one season wonder who shafted his club for the money I have no issue with you posting that on here however I find it tasteless that you would pretend to be someone your not just to get on here. You would have had no problem joining this board as Piskie so why are you trying to create some alter ego when its clear to everyone here who you are.

You know what? Contrary to many of your opinions, I am annoyed with van Persie now as well.
For a man who professed his unconditional love for the club and who claimed to respect Wenger, he has joined a team who he knew Wenger and the fans would never forgive him for joining.
I didn't mind him leaving, but he has joined Manchester United of all teams and whilst the board haven't covered themselves in glory as they didn't need to sell him, Robin knew the intensity of the rivalry and helped the move through. Yet again a pampered prima donna has left us.
I don't blame him if he wanted to earn £220k p/w. I don't blame him for wanting to win trophies. But no-one forced him to make the statement about how much he adored the club and the fans and how he would always respect us. He extensively fabricated a story which he felt would appease the fans but the fans recoiled and it had the opposite of the intended effect.
The board deserve to be castigated and rightly so - but so does the player, in my view.
Robin - thank you for the memories and everything you have done for us in the last 8 years. But you have put up a monumental middle finger at the club, the fans and Arsene Wenger for your participation in making this happen.
Alot of you may not agree with me on this, but Robin has lied and I am now peeved off at the board AND Robin.
