It is understood Van Persie was encouraged by the arrivals of Germany forward Lukas Podolski, France striker Olivier Giroud and Spain midfielder Cazorla - to the point where he was open to the idea of staying with or without a new contract. I am feeling unbelievable rage towards the board after hearing this and to Wenger now, I didn’t think he was that involved in this mess but it seems I was wrong. We even heard that RVP was happy with the signings and they still refused to offer him a new contract? Absolute shambles I was upset that RVP went to United but now I am pleased for him because he has a chance to win something and the lad deserves it. Best of luck RVP your now in a better place.

Typical and I'd love to see what the sycophantic types have to say now. Batting on a sticky wicket again no doubt.

Money is the route of all evil they say and there are those ill-advised who say RvP was motivated by money. That includes that man Glanville.

Guys, I'm annoyed too but there are positives to this. But lets look at what the BBC said.
RVP did not agree with the direction Arsenal were going in and decided he was not going to stay. Perfectly acceptable. Then Arsenal signed 3 decent players and RVP was open to the idea of staying. BUT Wenger had some bee in his bonnet and decided RVP no longer figured in his plans and told him he was no longer required. Man U made an offer and it was accepted.
Now I have defended Wenger and claimed that the board are undermining him and doing their own thing, but if the BBC report is correct, it was Wenger's choice to sell to our main rival for money ! Un - free kin-believeable.
But, ok, we sold a player for £24m which, lets be clear, is a lot of money. IF we can supplement it we can go out and make a marquee signing to compliment the players we have already bought, or, use the money to buy 2 decent players. So we would lose 1 player but gain 4 or 5 decent players - to me that would be a cracking bit of business. I have no doubt Giroud, Podolski and Cazorla will do well.
So lets not be too hasty, lets see how this turns out. Them having RVP doesn't make them any more likely to beat us or finish above us, I still think they are a poor Utd team.
As for Sensi, if that is you Piskie, I don't know why you don't just use your real name. The reason why this forum started was because we couldn't stand the power hungry divisive mods on the other board who try to stifle arguments. As long as you post here and have respect for other posters I personally won't have a problem with you - you don't need to hide. If it isn't you then you are very unfortunate to post views that are the same and write and argue in the same style as a poster from another board.
The same goes to any other posters from Not606, all are welcome as long as you respect the way we want our board to operate, everyone should be free to voice their opinions as long as they are not being offensive and antagonistic with it.

I miss my namesake Mr Head. Well, two thirds of it. We will only be stronger without him if we reinvest the income from transfers and properly at that, something about which the jury is rightly, still deliberating. Anyway. moving time for us too
