I'm sure the Hoytes are very nice but in terms of football I dont know how they made it, I could say the same for players like Eastmond, even Chamakh is awful technically for a footballer and he cant control simple balls that a Sunday league player could master. Its not just Arsenal though players like Barton who are horrible people and are rubbish at football somehow managed to make it. I mean the guy gets an excess of 60k a week and he's pants. Drogba didn’t start playing football professionally until he was around 23 so there’s hope for me yet. If the guys above can play then I could at least get into one of the lower leagues. I just need to lose a few punds ;D Carrying on with the thread of dearth of quality players, I believe we as fans have become so impatient with youth development.... I remember the days we had likes of Niall Quinn, Ian Smith as strikers, these kind of players will not get anywhere near our team..... I also recall Christopher Wreh, Stepanovs, Luzhny the list goes on, these days the foreign sounding name the better, we have a youth academy, we will be lucky if we get 2 players establish themselves in the first team from that set-up. It is easy to blame Chelsea/Citeh for moving the goalpost, but Arsene is known to send scouts to scour the globe looking for talents, only for this talents to fall by the wayside, maybe because they were taken away from their natural environment too soon. Last season, we were talking about Joel Campbell, would he not have benefited being left alone in his home country to allow him develop? Football has become so ruthless, we even boo our own players if they have a dip in form, I remember a game I was at last season, Arshavin was having a total mare in an FA cup game, his "fans" were on his back, I was really willing him to show them, you could see the confidence being drained out of him, the poor soul was begging to be subbed..... I think we all see Messi, Ronaldo, Barca players and say why can we not have players like these playing in our team...

It's understandable that fans have become impatient with the youth system at Arsenal though - there have been so many failure and there is a sense that we try and develop too many players and pay them way too much. I agree that we should not expect much from them early on, but they would not be under so much pressure if Arsene actually brought in experience. There are good signs here with the additions of Podolski and Giroud - both a bit older and more experienced - and of course the potential signing of Santi

However, I hope our fans do not have an appetite similar to the Chelsea, Manure and Citeh fans, where they feel they can just go out and sign who they want...... I would prefer a tweak of Wenger's model, sign young players, imbibe/educate/brainwash them the Arsenal way all the wonderful good stuffs about Arsenal, rather than go out and buy all these mercenaries and put them on crazy wages....

Spot on Omogooner and this has been the bloody annoying thing about Wenger, all we've ever needed is a slight tweak but instead what we got was dominant refusal to admit wrong doing or mistake making.
It should only ever have been 2 or 3 young players MAX in the team that we had instead of the 4 or 5 we haste typically had. Midfield is such a key area but we have had kids in there .... no maturity, no leadership either.

Rumours are floating around that Song has 'agreed personal terms' with Barca according to his agent Darren Dein. Grrrrr.

I must say, will miss Song if he goes. With a creative midfielder signed, we could have seen the best of Song this season in a DM role but now Iniesta seems to be tapping him up, there is a good chance he could be going to Barcelona. If so, then his choice and I won't berate him for it, but I don't see him fitting in well there.
Speaking of tapping up, why don't we take action against Barcelona for constantly trying to unsettle our players? It's unethical and unprofessional.

Stupid move from Song if he goes to Barca, lets face it he probably wont play that much for them as they have Busquets in that position. Song is a much better player in my opinion but Busquets has always been favoured at Barca. Keita couldnt get many games at Barca because Busquets was always chosen over him. We are finally beginning to show ambition in the transfer market and Song goes and does this. I have to say i'm quite disappointed by Song as he hasnt come out and complained like RVP and seems to want to go as soon as Barca start sniffing in his direction.

I am afraid this is another example of the club selling out the fans for profit. We had hope with Podolski, Giroud and Cazorla being signed, but it seems that the board are going to make another net profit in the transfer window whilst weakening the squad even further.
With Gazidis, Kroenke and Wenger and the helm, should have know not to get too excited about a possible change of approach. The three of them have spent the last 6 years destroying our ability to compete with the big clubs and it seems they are not finished yet.

It's time that Usmanov is brought into the fold, these three cretins seem to be determined to destroy the club from the inside. Usmanov has already publically criticised the board, now its time he forces his way into the board and we as fans need to back him. I'm tired of these greedy snakes ruining our club.

Jayram, chillax ! You're making it sound like we've already sold Song. After thinking about it further though, if Barca are willing to pay £20m for a player who, in my view, has not performed as well as he could have done for 2 seasons, coupled with the fact that he has one year left on his contract - well, it wouldn't necessarily be a bad bit of business. If we keep Song, then great. We will have a chance to see him as the midfield anchorman and, in theory, we could see Song back to his best. If we decide to flog him, then oh well. We have replacements for him and we have extra money that we can reimburse on a proper defensive midfield player. In my books, it's potentially a win-win either way.

I would mind if it was a part exhcange for one of their youngsters and some money, I would love to get Thiago because the boy seems to be very talented or even afellay plus some money

as I said about Walcott - if we are given £20m for Song, I'd take the money.
