They are already blaming RVP by saying stuff like he engineered a move, he jumped ship, he criticised the club, he was disrespectful, blah blah blah.

Very true, if only Wenger was a bit more firm in stance I think we would have kept a number of players. Still the board are to blame and they definitely wont win any fans if they sell RVP to United. I would like to see the fans who are with the board try and twist this, they would still probably find a way to blame RVP That's just it, isn't it? In a real life situation like ours, who amongst us would not have considered moving jobs for career and financial advancement? Obviously there could be mitigating circumstances but that is the general trend of movement in the labour market. Hence from RvP's point of view, at the start of the close season and even following the acquisition of Podolski and Giroud, one can hardly blame him for thinking that the grass elsewhere could be greener after all in the past seven years, the lead Manchester club has taken a lot more silverware than us and outpointed us in almost every competition and meeting. All considerations taken and given that this is his last hurrah, wouldn't we in his shoes almost do the same? I say again. One can't blame for wanting a move. The key was to make him want to stay in the first place. Ivan let the cat out of the bag in the spring of 2011 who when interviewed by R5 Live, would not comment when asked how he would prevent the exodus of key players if Arsenal did not invest to win. For the past seven years, Arsenal has failed to do that. For a player whose career is limited, that length of service in itself is more than sufficient payback. The slate is clean as far as I'm concerned even if I would dearly love him to stay.

The latest 'word on the wire' is that Man U and Arsenal are ready to agree a deal for RvP which amounts to £22M.
So much for AW's weasel words about wanting to keep RvP, has the man no shame? It would seem not, has he once again deliberately mislead the Fans?
The wrath could be yet to come.

They would surely rather spend 12 or 15 mil on that for a replacement than lose out on the 22m altogether which brings me back to my earlier point that having seen this continuously over the years who could take RvP to task if it dawned on him as it had with others that this board's vision of the future is certainly at odds with that of a player who wanted more from the practice of their craft. I can understand that having given the matter much thought RvP would want to leave but I sure hope he isn't bound for Old Trafford. Arsenal would regret it if we ever sold him to SAF. The board will have cause to rue their short sighted ways if he moved to the northwestern parts of these isles.

According to Sky, we're about to sell Song to Barca. I thought both he and le boss claimed the rumours were a load of rubbish? Yeah right, and 9/11 was caused by Al-Qaeda...
(Apologies if the 9/11 remark offends anyone)

Blackburn want Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh on a six-month loan. (Lancashire Telegraph)
The tabloids are also reporting that we have officially opened talks to sell RVP to United for as little as £22. Once again showing that they have no ambition

Blackburn want Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh on a six-month loan. (Lancashire Telegraph) We should tell them they can have him for free or some token sum. Must admit to feeling a little melancholic again with the rumours of a breakthrough in the talks. If RvP is not happy and after Sunday I would imagine he must be wondering how he will be greeted by the so-called Emirates Faithful, I can't and again won't blame him. When and should he return in a Utd away shirt it probably won't matter as much since he would one presumes be in the hunt for the EPL with them. If again as rumoured we may get Hernandez as part of the deal then it may not hurt as much and while it won't, it will never be the same again ..... at least not for quite a while I imagine. It may sound astonishing but while having supported Arsenal since 1978, RvP has been the only player whose career I have followed. Missed out on the likes of Sir Dennis and some of TH on account of work commitments so RvP was that little bit more special to me. Oh well, life goes on

I am slightly numbed by these revelations.
Putting my adult hat on ..... we sell him to Man U now for £22m or, in January, he signs for Man U anyway for nothing.
Best of a bad situation I guess .... lets spend the £22m on a top player (obviously we'd need to add money to it). Lets get a marquee player in.
If we sell Song, again, lets use the money to improve ourselves. These revelations could actually put us in a better place, just wished these pricks would leearn from their mistakes .. yet again we are faced with losing 2 of our most important players days before the start of a new bloody season !!
You couldn't make this up could you.

but how many times have we thought 'we can buy a meaningful replacement for that money' and what do we get?

No wonder RvP isn't keen on staying and Song, well it seems he's not bothered either way or either.

Oh well, life goes on Hernandez is not bad in fairness (very dangerous in the box) but selling RVP to United is suicide in terms of league ambitions and shows that we have no ambition whatsoever. How can you sell your best player to one of your biggest rivals in recent years and who look like of the main teams challenging for the league again this season. We are weakening ourselves and at the same time strengthening United. The same United who were miles ahead of us in the league last year..How then are we meant to catch up to them then when we are directly improving their squad (greatly) and not strengthening ourselves? Pathetic board and if Wenger has a backbone he would oppose this deal by putting his job on the line because that would make the board listen and stop this deal.

I think for a couple of years he has shown signs of frustration and throwing the towel in. His own policies and projects have not really been successful, influx of money at competitors and our new Board and owner have put him in his place.... He is an honourable man and will serve out his term and hope to be recognised as the biggest force for change at the club ever - but he will not extend his contract. A very sad state of affairs.

It sounds like Walcott maybe the next player on his way, suggestions are that Inter, Liverpool and Chelsea are all interested. It seems like Song and Walcott were waiting to see what would happen to RVP and are now deciding to leave, cant blame them really our only World class player is leaving and we haven't strengthened enough so things aren't looking great at the moment and to top it all off the Sahin deal maybe in jeopardy. Liverpool have dispatched director Ian Ayre to try and finalize a deal so if we don't act soon I can see him going to Liverpool.

The thing is I am not sure Hernandez suits the way we play. Still, I've always liked the thought of having someone who actually stays in the bloody box.
